Mission & Objectives

By using a human rights-based approach, WP6 will assess the potential of existing legal frameworks and policies to address major climate-migration challenges identified by HABITABLE. A “longlist” of legal and policy options will be created and the current best practices will be identified through regionally-based and international workshops. On this basis, recommendations (which will integrate possible solutions put forward by other WPs) will be delivered to inform policies and legal instruments to address the climate-migration nexus. More specifically, these recommendations will aim at informing key European policies and activities (such as the European Agenda on Migration), taking into account the evolving nature of EU policies and their potential revision post-2020. WP6 will highlight opportunities for the EU and member states to support policy integration and pertinent action at the international level, as well as in regions and third countries with strong migration ties to the EU.
