adelphi is a leading independent think tank and public policy consultancy on climate, energy, environment and sustainable development that aims to improve global governance through research, dialogue and advice. adelphi’s interdisciplinary team works closely with a network of international partners, engaging experts and stakeholders in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Pacific and the Middle East. It facilitates policy dialogues for governments and international organizations. adelphi’s more than 100 clients include the European Commission, international organizations, governments, public institutions, corporations and associations.
The impacts of global environmental changes on foreign policy, development and security are among adelphi’s core competences. In particular, adelphi assesses interconnected and cross-cutting challenges, such as climate change, migration, and conflict, and engages practitioners and policymakers across sectors, geographies, and levels of governance to design appropriate responses.
adelphi has extensive experience in outreach and dissemination activities through communication platforms, exhibitions, newsletters and social media on a variety of environmental and development issues. It has operated the Environment, Conflict and Cooperation (ECC) platform (www.eccplatform.org), the world’s largest information portal on this issue, for over a decade. Moreover, adelphi led the international consortium that in 2015 produced the report ‘A New Climate for Peace’ – on the risks of climate change for state fragility, and the international communities’ response options and priorities – for the G7. In addition, adelphi has developed and deployed methods for participative (i.e. stakeholder-driven) scenario co-creation for the OSCE, the European Energy Agency, and the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, and partnered with the International Organization for Migration to assess the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation on migration.
