Work Package 5
Impacts of Migration
WP5 will study the impact of migration on the resilience and vulnerability of communities at both places of origin and destination. It will particularly focus on the role of migration for successful adaptation.
WP5 will study the impact of migration on the resilience and vulnerability of communities at both places of origin and destination. It will particularly focus on the role of migration for successful adaptation.
WP5 will investigate how migration supports successful climate change adaptation on community level. WP5 will provide an in-depth understanding of the range of impacts of migration and the direct and indirect effects on community climate change adaptation. WP5 will primary utilize focus group discussions and different techniques of the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) including migration and mobility maps, migration stakeholder analysis, migration impact diagram, climate impact diagram as well as adaptation and migration mapping. WP5 will draw on findings from WP1 (migration tipping points), WP2 (role of environmental perception in migration decision making) and WP4 (micro- and meso-level adaptation) and will reversely provide useful data for WP3 (modelling), WP6 (policy recommendations) and WP7 (scenarios).
HABITABLE aims to significantly advance our understanding of the current interlinkages between climate impacts and migration and displacement patterns, in order to better anticipate their future evolutions.
