Adrien Detges is a Senior Advisor at adelphi. His research and consulting work focus on climate change and resource governance, and their relevance to foreign, security and development policy. He holds a doctorate in political science from Freie Universität Berlin.
Adrien has planned and managed research and consulting projects for national and international clients, including assessments of climate-related risks to human security in different parts of the world, and evaluations of measures to increase resilience. He develops innovative approaches for engaging experts and stakeholders and combining quantitative and qualitative foresight methods.
Adrien has taught at Freie Universität Berlin, and conducted research into climate change, adaptive capacity and armed conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa. His work has been published in leading academic journals, such as Nature Climate Change. He is familiar with a range of research methods, and has a solid foundation in statistics and data analysis. Through his interdisciplinary work, he has acquired technical knowledge in political science, economics, geoinformatics, climate science and anthropology.
Adrien has been involved in a number of research and consulting projects and is currently leading all activities relating to the development and security implications of climate change in the Horizon 2020 project CASCACES.
Adrien supports adelphi’s work in HABITABLE, in particular in WP7.
HABITABLE aims to significantly advance our understanding of the current interlinkages between climate impacts and migration and displacement patterns, in order to better anticipate their future evolutions.
