ITC is a faculty at the University of Twente, developing individual and institutional capacity to utilize geospatial solutions to deal with global, mostly environmental and societal problems in the Global South. With that ITC provides valuable geo-spatial knowledge impacting migration in the Global South. Since its foundation in 1950, ITC has carried out more than 900 research, advisory and training projects on a global scale funded by UN organizations, EU, ESA, national governments, private sector entities and NGO’s. Currently, ITC employs about 240 researchers and staff from almost 30 nationalities.
The UT is a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities, having some 3,150 scientists and other professionals working on cutting-edge research and inspiring education for more than 11,000 students (2019). The UT has an outstanding track record in research and value creation, having received 33 ERC grants, been involved in over 220 FP7 projects and 147 Horizon2020 projects.
HABITABLE aims to significantly advance our understanding of the current interlinkages between climate impacts and migration and displacement patterns, in order to better anticipate their future evolutions.
