The 3rd #HABITABLE Annual Meeting that just concluded in #Ghana, where our research partners finally gathered alltogether to dive deep into their #findings and #innovations. Over the course of a week, the #HABITABLE team embraced a dense agenda, presenting and discussing first results, and engaging with local press, communities and policy-makers.
The enthusiasm was palpable, and the exchange of ideas was inspiring, enriching and promising. The event not only marked a reunion but also served as a golden opportunity to strengthen our consortium. The discussions highlighted the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change and put forward a more nuanced understanding of human mobility in the context of environmental change and the notion of #habitability. The team is now at a stage of bringing together each partners’ key results that will lead to the findings the project will showcase at its conclusion.

HABITABLE’s key findings and innovations
The week commenced with active participation from our project partners in detailed presentations. They shared key findings and innovations from eight work packages. Insights were provided by primary country leads in Ghana, Mali, Thailand, Ethiopia, and Kenya shaped the collective narrative during the engaging plenary workshop.

The heart of HABITABLE’s stakeholder engagement strategy was explored as our team absorbed lessons from the 2nd EC report. Together, they reflected on engagement goals, actively discussing strategies to amplify HABITABLE’s impact through ambitious stakeholder involvement.

Exhibiting HABITABLE findings and innovations
The week saw the impactful exhibition of HABITABLE’s findings in the migrant-receiving community of Tema. The team engaged in insightful country-specific breakout discussions, actively contributing to the real-world impact and ongoing narrative of the project.

HABITABLE’s scientific outcome and sustainability
Specialized breakout workshop sessions were held, focusing on gender, key outcomes, and communication strategies. The team contributed substantively to the scientific discourse and attended a seminar at the University of Ghana on Human Geography and Climate-Induced Migration.

Concluding sessions
The week concluded with comprehensive reports from breakout sessions, outlining concrete next steps and responsibilities. The team engaged directly with HABITABLE Advisory Board members, ensuring alignment with broader objectives. They wrapped up the conference with impactful closing remarks, marking the culmination of a week filled with collaboration and knowledge sharing.
