Mumuni Abu is a demographer and a Senior Lecturer at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana, where he teaches, conducts research and mentors students in both technical and social demography. He holds a PhD, MPhil, M.A. in Population Studies from the University of Ghana, and B.A (Hons) in Population and Family Life Studies from the University of Cape Coast.

He has authored publications in journals such as Population and Environment; Environmental Research Letters, Environment, Development and Sustainability and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. His work focuses mainly on migration, population health and environment, as well as provides technical support and services to local and international organizations on mainstreaming population into development planning. He lectures on population and environment at the Regional Institute for Population Studies, University of Ghana.

Mumuni worked on several international research projects on climate change with collaborators in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. Some of the projects are DECCMA, MISTY, EHICAS, and OVERCOME, where he played the role of a co-investigator.

Mumuni is a Co-Researcher on the HABITABLE project and will co-lead WP1, WP3 and WP5 research activities in Ghana.
