The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN). Its purpose is to contribute to peace by promoting international collaboration through education, science (natural, social and human), culture and communication in order to further universal respect for justice, the rule of law, and human rights along with fundamental freedom proclaimed in the United Nations Charter.
UNESCO is responsible for leading WP9 – Stakeholder Engagement, in addition to leading tasks in WP3 and WP6.
The Organization places emphasis on the human face of migration and addresses the implications of the movement of people within its fields of competence, including through the organization’s Management of Social Transformation (MOST). MOST cooperates with national authorities, scientific communities and civil society to help UNESCO Member States strengthen the connection between research and policy and between knowledge and action.
