Raks Thai Foundation (Raks Thai) is a rights-based organization that was established on August 15th, 1997 as a Thai successor to CARE International (Thailand) and became a member of CARE International in January 2003. Since Raks Thai was first established, it has strived to build the capacity of communities through community-based development in the following 5 Programme areas: Environment, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Health, Children and Youth, and Emergency Preparedness.
Raks Thai has a strong record on natural resources management and climate change projects, in addition to extensive experience in both the nexus of migration and community development/climate change adaptation. Raks Thai has participated in international science-practice projects, such as “Where the Rain Falls”, “TransRe’, and “AGRUMIG”. The Raks Thai Environment program focuses on community-based adaptation (CBA) as a strategy for allowing communities to understand their vulnerabilities to the impacts of climate change and to plan for their sustainable future, thereby, increasing their resilience.
Under the HABITABLE project, Raks Thai will support the implementation of WP1, 2, 4, 5, and 8. In particular, Raks Thai will expand upon the practitioner’s tool on Migration for Adaptation by integrating a gender perspective into the tool.
HABITABLE aims to significantly advance our understanding of the current interlinkages between climate impacts and migration and displacement patterns, in order to better anticipate their future evolutions.
